Eva Mendes, Patricia Arquette and Matthew Modine
Synopsis:
The teen daughter of a distracted single mother attempts to speed up her move into adulthood with the help of her best friend, and she learns some important lessons about growing up in the process.
Ansiedad’s (Cierra Ramirez) father has never been on the scene, and her mother Grace (Eva Mendes) is not exactly a good example or role model for the youngster. She is generally far too busy with her own issues such as men or work to pay her daughter much mind. She is having an affair with a married doctor (Matthew Modine) while at the same time her co-worker (Eugenio Derbez) decides to pursue her with a view to romance as well.
Meanwhile, Ansiedad learns about the typical "coming-of-age" story in English class with the help of her concerned teacher, Ms. Armstrong (Patricia Arquette), and decides that it's high time she left adolescence behind.
Together with her best friend Tavita (Raini Rodriguez), Ansiedad hatches a plan to speed up her development, even if it means willingly sacrificing some of her own innocence along the way. But little does Ansiedad realize that growing up isn't just about age, but gaining wisdom as well.
