BOOKING FOR

Synopsis: Chicken with Plums is the latest film from Marjane Satrapi, who delighted 2008 DIFF audience  with the animated film Persepolis. This time round, Satrapi has made a live-action film, albeit one generously interspersed with animation. Set in 1958 Tehran, the film chronicles eight days in the life of a celebrated violin player whose beloved instrument is accidentally broken. Unable to find a violin worthy of replacing it, he sinks into depression, and retreats to his bed to await his own death. Slipping into melancholic reverie, he dreams of his past and his children’s futures – as told by the angel of death.
